Our managing director Alice Amponsah is a registered learning disability nurse. We know that too many people with learning disabilities are still in mental health hospitals and are not always treated well. We need to see this change. Alice is working with the NHS to complete quality oversight visits for people with learning disabilities who are currently inpatients in mental health hospitals. This involves:

• • Listening to patients to find out their views and to make sure their voices are being heard
  • Meeting with hospital staff and spending time on the wards
  • Finding out about discharge plans
  • Writing reports and providing advice

This is really important work which helps to make sure that people are being supported well in hospital with good plans in place for when they leave hospital.
